About

Hey There! Thanks for stopping by to check out Dellah's Jubilation! I'm Danielle {Dellah} and I've been a NYC lover all of my life, growing up and now raising my two monsters, CJ and Tristan with my hubby Mike in Queens. I'm a bit of a renaissance woman right now: aside from my life as mommy and wifey, I have a B.A in Forensic psychology & I'm currently working on my thesis for my Masters in Elem. Ed while paying the bills as an educator in NYC preschools and public schools and as an event/wedding coordinator for WellRoundedNY.com and My Bridal Budget LLC.

I discovered a sassy quote on Instagram that sums up my look on life  "When life gives you lemons, hurl those lemons right back at life. Then we'll just see if life tries that sh*t again!"  When I started this blog I was at a crossroads in my life, an elementary education grad student, laid off from my preschool teaching job of 5 years, sevens months pregnant and battling Crohns disease. I had no clue what to do next. I realized after a year of staying home with my boys who were about seven and one, that although motherhood would always be my biggest joy and purpose, I needed an outlet to keep me busy, something that I was passionate about.

Whenever I could catch a mommy moment, most times while the youngest monster napped, I'd end up scrolling and peaking into the lives of fabulous bloggers  & realized I needed to start one of my own. A space that felt like two friends or family catching up on a neighborhood stoop & celebrated all of life's moments big and small. You'll find a little bit of everything here: parenting moments, trends I love {and knew readers would love} in the pages of my fave magazines, on Etsy {I love handmade goodies and small businesses} and posts on my obsession with kiddie products, weddings, design, food and this magical city we are fortunate to call home. You can find all these goodies in my weekly series:

My former favorite students at the preschool called me Dellah because they couldn't pronounce Danielle and it has stuck with me ever since, so that's how the blog name cam about. My student's parents were always impressed with how much culture and activities we exposed our boys to despite my health which definitely kept us budget conscious. I love sharing our adventures here in NYC especially because most of our excursions are inexpensive or better yet FREE! You can find posts on our NYC adventures in the series: Lil' Monsters in NYC // Revel in NY

After a month long hospitalization at the start of 2014 and a need for emergency surgery (due to my Crohns), I received numerous phone calls and messages on social media from people, (some being strangers) who admired my spirit and were inspired by my testimony and positive outlook despite my circumstance. Which led me to create the series Living in the Moments where I hope to share the stories of other fabulous woman I've either seen on Instagram or know in real life, who are inspiring as mothers, business owners and truly any & every aspect of their life here in NYC. After that whirlwind year of positive vibes and opportunities I want readers and Chronies to know that persevering through a Chronic illness or any obstacle isn't necessarily the end all be all. It could be the start of an exciting new beginning!

As I grow and change I expect that my blog will do the same!
